Introduction

Assistoken is an early-stage project from Special Needs Toys Norway.

We are developing the concept of adaptive financial technology for people with disabilities — so that financial information and support can adapt to the person and the situation, not the other way around.

This site is information about that work. It is not a shop, a bank, or a finished product.

Why the project exists

Special Needs Toys Norway works with children, families, and professionals around special needs. Assistoken comes out of that practice, not out of a generic fintech brief.

The repeated pattern is this: digital finance can be reachable and still not understandable. When understanding fails, control of money often moves to someone else.

Assistoken is an attempt to treat that as a design problem — and as a rights problem — not only as a care problem.

Rights: the CRPD

Assistoken is being developed in line with the aims of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).

The CRPD is not a slogan on this page. It is the reason “access to the app” is not the end of the work.

In particular, this project relates to the idea that people with disabilities have a right to:

  • participate in decisions that affect their own lives

  • support that enables decision-making, rather than replacement of the person

  • accessibility that includes information and communication, not only physical or technical entry

  • as much autonomy as possible in everyday life, including economic life

Assistoken does not claim to “implement the CRPD” as software.
No product can do that.

What we are saying is that financial technology should not make it harder to enjoy those rights.

If a person can open a payment screen but cannot understand the decision, inclusion is incomplete.

That is why the project uses financial autonomy: understanding, participation, and control — with support when it is needed or wanted, not control as the default.

Maximum autonomy. Minimum necessary support.

What is decided

  • The problem: access ≠ understanding

  • The direction: adapt information and support to the individual + situation + decision

  • What we will not build toward: diagnosis → one simplified bank

  • The role of technology: support the decision, do not take it

  • The role of families and staff: available, not automatic owners of the choice

  • The public purpose of this website: explain the project and invite serious conversation

What is not decided

  • Final product form

  • Whether this becomes a layer inside existing banks, an integration, an SDK, a standalone experience, or something else

  • Commercial model

  • Any public sale of a token on this site

  • Older pages and documents may mention tokens, wallets, or a marketplace. Treat those as project exploration and background, not as a live offer. If that strand matters later, it will be described plainly. It is not the homepage story.

Problem and technological direction are defined.
A finished commercial product is not.

We are looking for:

  • investors who understand early, rights-based, inclusion work

  • institutions willing to think with us, not only buy a slide

  • organisations, researchers, and people with disabilities who can test whether the concept holds in real decisions
